Intermedia Ltd
Managing Director
May 2001 - May 2006
Started Acumen as a print management company in Croydon & won some significant contracts to grow the business to £1M+ turnover in 18 months. After acquiring our main print supplier – Mercury Press in Crawley – it was apparent this was a mistake and the business was fatally flawed. The print production business became a constant fire-fight including continual crisis management & tight cash-flow – a difficult turnaround environment – I eventually split the business back by integrating the production facility into a competitor’s structure and forming a ‘hard-media’ management company – Intermedia. Intermedia managed media projects for ABET (Budweiser Europe), Ikon, Merrill-Lynch and a number of Sports based companies as well as publishers. Projects including DVD production, graphic design , web-site production, stock-control / logistics work.

February 1997 - May 2000
At the time ABB were the biggest engineering company in the world and the Nera division specialised in satellite & microwave communication systems for leading-edge communications companies as well as UK & foreign defence ministries with facilities throughout the world. I was fully responsible for all procurement, production, warehousing & logistics for ths £100m+ turnover organisation I had a £50m budget and reported directly to the UK Managing Director. ABB were excellent employers and encouraged training & development of their staff – they funded my MBA at Brighton University.
Schlumberger Technologies
Procurement & Logistics Manager
January 1989 - February 1997
Schlumberger Instruments manufactured LVDT’s – ultra high precision electro-mechanical measuring devices. Products were sold into varied markets but particularly automotive, defence & hi-tech electronics. Needless to say purchasing & supply chain management was leading edge due to the high cost & high precision as well as defence industry trace-ability etc. I enjoyed a fantastic 6 years at chlumberger and whilst there I passed my MCIPS and was fortunate to undergo the highest levels of management training throughout the world (mainly USA & France) I implemented a fusion of JIT / Kanban / ERP working within & often leading a team of top notch thoroughly motivated & highly skilled professionals.
